Taught a one term (half-credit) course designed to introduce Bachelor of Management students to a suite of Office applications, including using the applications themselves, as well as some basic theoretical frameworks for developing workable documents and managing information.

Taught a one term (half-credit) course designed to introduce Bachelor of Management students to the basics of research, including finding and evaluating information sources, developing and analyzing arguments, and presenting those arguments both in presentations and in a final paper.

Developing an Online Portfolio (2006-2008)

School of Information Management (Dalhousie)

Delivered seminars to a group of postgraduate students. The seminars covered basic elements of a portfolio, choosing a hosting service and setting up an account, and covered the basic coding elements of two prepared website templates (one HTML, one PHP).

Records Management Portfolio (2005)

For a term project, a colleague and I developed a records management policy for departmental web site. Performed a records inventory, established a retention policy, designed and implemented a file plan, and wrote a clear set of policies to govern the records management activities of the staff involved with the web site.

Bringing Resources to the Public: Steps In Planning and Implementing an On-Line Project (2005)

Electronic Text Centre (Dalhousie) / Nova Scotia Digital Collections Initiative

Co-wrote, designed and presented at a two day workshop for professional librarians from across Nova Scotia. Showcased advances in digital technology and presented exemplary web site. Discussed analysis and design of projects and web sites, provided an overview of metadata standards in common use, web authoring software, audio and video components, literary text mark-up, scanning and preparation of images and text, data base integration, and provided step-by-step examples of HTML and CSS coding. Participants have recommended the workshop be repeated.

Professional Experience

Web Application Design (2006-present)

Department of Anesthesia (Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine)

Created a web application to allow department members to enter and display CV information. Built a reporting module to track department deliverables. Developed a series of websites for different programs within the department. Ongoing development, administration, and refinement.

Web Designer and Coder (2006)

Canadian Water Resources Association Mentorship Program

Created a web application to allow authorized members to record and edit information about potential mentors and mentees in a database, and to search the database for appropriate matches.

Information Specialist (2005-2006)

Counselling and Psychological Services (Dalhousie University)

Created searchable database, edited material for publication, organized confidential documents, digitized vital records, developed an XML storage format for personnel records, complied survey data.
