Online Portfolios
Dalhousie University, School of Information Management (2006-2009)
The seminar was delivered in two sections this year. The first dealt with a purely HTML version of the Online Portfolio, for those who (for whatever reason) didn’t want to get involved with PHP.
Note that I left my own content in the portfolio as an example of how content and styling might be managed, but that the seminar deals with how to alter these things for each individual. Also, while most of the links in the example site (the projects, for example) lead to my own site, this was to save space in the zip file. Normally, of course, they would lead to subsections of the individual’s own portfolio.
The second seminar section dealt with a PHP-based version of the same site, to illustrate the many ways that this site would be easier to maintain, as well as having more basic capability than the HTML-only site.
My posting on the Portable Webmaster package might be of interest as well.
Poster Presentations
Dalhousie University, Management Without Borders (2009)
This seminar presented the basics of preparing a poster presentation using PowerPoint2007. General topics such as basic preparation and requirements for a poster were covered, as well as the steps in developing a visual concept. Specifics of using PowerPoint were the main focus. At the end, students had created their own sample poster, which could serve as a template for future poster presentations.
